Posted: 21st December 2012

The Department of Health has published the Summary of Draft Care and Support Bill consultation

Following a strong response from seAp, other advocacy organisations, care and support alliance and ADASS, the case for advocacy was made (see below):

'there was a strong desire to expand the duty to provide information and advice to include more detailed requirements to help the person understand and make use of information, and to support the role of advocacy.'

There is further consultation on the draft bill with support to respond from The Bill is currently going through the Parliamentary Committee process. More needs to be done to convince the Government to include advocacy in the Bill.
