Learning Disability

MY CHOiCE Advocacy Services is an advocacy service which supports adults with a learning disability through the provision of a range of advocacy projects to:
- People living in a long-stay institution in Hastings, which will be closing over the next year. This service is provided through a contract with Sutton Social Services. The advocate is supporting residents to consider their options for a future move into a home in the community and has supported people to access new opportunities off-site and to develop their self-advocacy skills.
- A spot purchase contract with the Hastings & Rother Independent Living Team, to provide independent advocacy support to one person who has an acquired brain injury.
- People supported by private care providers. This includes a contract to provide independent advocacy support to people with autism or asperger’s syndrome who live in two homes in Hastings, a contract to facilitate an advocacy group in a large residential home.
- People living in ten homes managed by the Hastings and Rother Primary Care Trust receive a visiting advocacy service once a month. The advocate also facilitates a quarterly users meeting with the residents of all the homes.
- A contract with a Housing Association to support three adults in a supported living unit in Hampden Park.
If you would like to talk to MY CHOiCE about any of these services or to discuss future service provision please do not hesitate to contact Janet Lundberg, Project Manager on 0330 440 9000
