Dementia Advocacy
From 1st July 2009 we have been commissioned to provide a one year pilot dementia advocacy service within Cornwall, for adults of any age with a dementia diagnosis. Advocates will be visiting the older peoples wards at least once a week. People can also meet with an advocate in a place they feel most comfortable with i.e. their own home, day centre etc. We can help with:
- Instructed advocacy
- Non instructed advocacy if clients are unable to instruct advocates themselves
The service is free, confidential and empowering and some examples of issues advocates can support with are:
- Health care and treatment
- Human rights
- Complaints
- Accommodation and housing issues
- When there are possible safeguarding adult concerns.
