Appropriate Adult (Portsmouth)

The Appropriate Adult Service is an independent support service, as required under PACE (Police and Criminal Evidence Act) for any vulnerable adult who comes into contact with the Criminal Justice System, whether as an alleged offender, victim or witness of a crime.

The Service is available between the hours of 8.30am and 11pm seven days a week, 365 days a year, covered by a rota of volunteers. The service commits to providing an Appropriate Adult within two hours of a referral from the police.
